Miss PUERTO and Miss RICO for Miss Unibarse?

Name: Miranda Biaggi
Country: Puerto Rico
City: San Juan

Name: Arianna Toledo
Country: Puerto Rico
City: Cayey

The Miss Puerto Rico Organizers, headed by Juan Carlos Medina, recently held a press conference presenting their Puerto Rican doll-egates to Miss Unibarse 2008! You read it right, doll-egate's'...2 ladies are set to represent Puerto Rico in Palau!

Organizers have informed Miss Unibarse headquarters that the ladies fought hard to win the right to represent Miss Puerto Rico in Palau but in the end both were left standing in a deadlock tie for the crown!

Aishiwarya Rai
Sushmita Sen
The last time this happened, in real life pageant was with Feminina Miss India 1994 where Sushmita Sen and Aisiwarya Rai both tied for first place. The same incident happened 6 years later in 2000 when both Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta tied for 1st place.

To make a long story short, we all know what happened to these ladies in their respective international events, Sen and Dutta won Miss Universe while Chopra and Rai won Miss World! Could this be a pre-cursor to Puerto Rico's strong showing in Miss Unibarse this year?

Priyanka Chopra
Lara Dutta

Only time will tell but for now, Miss PR Organization is seeking the help of the public and the national directors to select the best doll to send to Miss Unibarse.

Which of these beautiful Puertoriquenas should go to Palau?

F&G and DANIEL SHINES in EUROPE

“WHEN WE HEARD THE NEWS THAT DANIEL [MIAGANY] AGREED TO WORK WITH US, WE WERE EXCITED AND AT THE SAME TIME FELT A BIT CHALLENGED. WE FELT CHALLENGED BECAUSE OF HIS REPUTATION AND PREVIOUS BODY OF WORK WITH VARIOUS PHOTOGRAPHERS. WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE PROVIDE HIM WITH SOMETHING UNIQUE AND FRESH, SOMETHING PHENOMENAL FOR HIS PORTFOLIO WHILE AT THE SAME TIME CREATE AN IMAGE THAT WOULD MAKE YOU WANT TO BOOK US FOR A SESSION AND WORK WITH F&G PHOTOGRAPHY…I THINK WE ACHIEVED JUST THAT.”

–Francois, F&G Photography.

Launched in 2005, F&G Photography has rapidly become one of the more recognizable pieces of photography in the Los Angeles area with their innovative styling, artistic visualization and sharp and vibrant colors. The interesting thing is that F&G Photography is a collaborative effort of two creative individuals from two different backgrounds: one works as an Information Technologist while the other works as an advocate for HIV/AIDS education and awareness. They entered the world photography by working with dolls in their annual doll pageant Miss Unibarse, a project in which they created visually appealing sets and imagery with inanimate objects. This experience led the two on a journey that eventually became F&G Photography, shifting the focus less from the dolls and more into aspiring actors, models and individuals in need of a strong portfolio with an emphasis on fashion editorials and specialized glamour portraits.

"Our goal is to continue to move forward, learn as much along the way and network with the best. We aim to push the boundaries of creativity by bringing out the best from everyone that we work with." And that is exactly what happened with their recent collaboration with Daniel Miagany. Daniel was born to a Puerto Rican Mother and a half Armenian/Paraguayan Father in 1978 in Los Angeles, CA. He began modelling right after completing highschool in Asuncion, Paraguay in 1996 and moved back to Los Angeles in 1998 where he hooked up with photographer Mark Studner who got him published multiple times.

Daniel is a highly visible profile not only in MySpace but in West Hollywood and quite possibly the world! He has graced the covers of such magazine such as Adelante, Odyssey, Rocket, In Magazine, 3 Sixty, Bulb, Metra and Frontiers for a record 17 times. He is also the face of Gay.Com with billboards showcasing his beautiful face and body dotting the landscapes throughout Southern and Northern California. If that resume wasn't enough he is also modeled a known underwear model and has been photographed by talented photographers such as Matthew Mitchell, Joseph Leon and Greg Thompson just to name a few.

WHAT a 'BEAUTIFUL' MAN!

Marilyn Monroe was right when she said that "everyone's a star and deserves the right to twinkle." Fame. Glitter. Glamour. What does it feels like to be adored and admired by thousands. It is a destiny reserved for only a few of us. Still, it doesn’t hurt to dream about it because you never know, dreams do come true every now and then. Because if it can happen to them, why not to you?

Fame can be gained by many ways. But if you want it, be careful what you wish for. Everything has its price, and if you really choose to shine, you might discover the price is not what you want to pay for it. And that brings us to the interesting subject of how fame can come to happen. You can wish for it and wait for it to happen to you. Or you can decide to really go for it and make it happen. Or it just happens to you, whether you wanted it or not. No matter how you get there, once you are there you better deal with it. It is your moment to shine, so enjoy it.

Daniel Miagany was born to shine. He has everything that a man needs to make it onto the big billboards and magazines and is hard on his way to become an international fashion model. The men from F&G Photography were already hard on their own way to reach that glamorous place at the top when they met Daniel and had the chance to work with him. Paul and Drew are building their own road to that so much desired place on the top, and Josh Thompson was happy to give them a little hand. Michael Biserta, a very down to earth fire fighter from New York did already have his moment of fame. The question is, did he really want it? You read it all here on BeautifulMag in the coming two weeks, the story of Paul and Drew, F&G, the return of the sexy John Kilar and the photographer of the stars Eric Schwabel. And a very exclusive interview with Michael Biserta. The next two weeks, BeautifulMag will shine.

'BARBIE' ALERT: MISSING GLOBE DOLLS

All these dolls competed at Miss Doll Globe earlier this year produced by Anthony Ryan (AR) Duque. Despite numerous attempts and effort by GQBM and other directors requesting for their dolls return, AR Duque refuses to return them nor does he respond to any of our emails and seems to be missing in action.

We hope that AR Duque will return to his senses and do what is right and that is to return our dolls for we have not done anything wrong to deserve such unfair treatment and shady behavior.

If anyone has any information about the director in question and our dolls, please inform everyone. Things like this should not be happening, let us work together to get our dolls back.

Thank you!

The BEST ALL GIRL 'BOND' in the WORLD

Ever wonder what music plays during each elimination and crowning of MISS UNIBARSE? For the true pageant lovers, one can name that group in a heart beat because they have were the main musical guests featured at the 2003 Miss Universe pageant. They music is uplifting, catchy, innovative, fresh and above all fun! Ladies and gentle men please meet the best all girl 'bond' in the world!

The BOND STORY

If you play around with the layers of meaning in the word Classified, you come up with several permutations: Classical, a reference to the ongoing are-they-aren’t-they debate concerning bond’s musical style; Classic as in first-class or excellent, a reference to their academic and musical abilities; Classy as in superior and stylish; and then there’s the hush-hush meaning of Classified, alluding to a certain suave and sexy spy of renown.

All are relevant to the perception and status of bond, who have defied their detractors and become a musical phenomenon selling three million albums in a field where going into five figures is considered doing well. Their third album Classified is set to bump those figures further into the stratosphere.

It’s not actually hard to figure out why. Sure, Haylie Ecker (first violin), Eos Chater (second violin), Tania Davis (viola) and Gay-Yee Westerhoff (cello) are highly photogenic. But as one of them has pointed out, if that’s all that was needed for success, then supermodels would be able to sell records. There’s a deeper reason. It’s because underpinning everything lies individual musical virtuosity and the sharpest of ears for what a global audience wants to hear. bond are entertainers and see no shame in that. They are a genuinely genre-defying act, willing to go beyond category to explore the joy of music regardless of the cultural hamstrings that restrict the creativity of so many classically trained musicians.

Classified is a return to a more classically oriented style, put over with their trademark verve and panache. With it come explorations of other styles, from African and electro beats, hip hop to Latin, and for the first time a sliver of jazz.

The bonding that was part of the inspiration for their name still holds true four years on. “Our reasons for doing this are all the same. Normally when groups don’t last there’s some sort of conflict of interest; people have different ideas of where they want to go. But we’ve always wanted the same thing”, says Tania. This can be encapsulated in seeking the challenge of the new and wanting to have fun.

“It works”, says Eos, “because we’re all so different in a way. It helps that we had a really strong training. I think that being dedicated to something all your life gives you a good grounding; it’s made us all quite down-to-earth.”

Out of this common purpose has grown genuine love for each other. “We’re all still in love”, says Gay-Yee. You can feel what she means in their presence, all exuding a genuine warmth and concern for each other. “We try and enjoy what we do and try not to take ourselves seriously.”

Fame and money has not changed them, they insist, though they do brandish their sparkly rings with glee. Tania puts it in perspective. “You make a choice to stay the person you are.” Then they all break into laughter. Divas, it seems, R not Us.

Much of the sense of lightness of being that surrounds bond is the love of what they do and the freedom to do it. No one is pushing them to wear sexy outfits. That is who they are. Fashion is big in their life. But more fundamentally, it’s about being in control of your own destiny. Words like “manufactured” and “svengali” hovered in their vicinity at the beginning. But it’s the girls who choose their material and style, and anyone would be foolish to try and push them around. “We’re four women who have been around a little while now, and we’re having so much fun doing what we’re doing. In that respect it’s really cool that we don’t have to take any hass from guys”, says Haylie, explaining hass is a word where she comes from. “We can just do what we want, it’s quite liberating.”

bond are a truly global success. Much of 2003 was taken up touring, particularly throughout Asia. They also fitted in performing and filming a TV commercial for American department store chain Marshall Field’s, and made a commercial in Los Angeles for the Japanese karaoke manufacturer Daiichi Kosho. Then there was their movie debut playing themselves in a scene in Rowan Atkinson’s James Bond spoof Johnny English for which they also contributed the track “Kismet,” composed by Gay-Yee, and played on the Main Theme.

The last part of 2003 was spent recording Classified. Inevitably, with their rich and varied experiences, bond brought with them into the studio the culmination of their global influences. They are still influenced by the club scene from Momo in London to Bed in Bangkok, and popular culture. “We’re all into lots of things. Our eyes are wide open”, says Gay-Yee. And naturally, their ears are too.

The argument over whether bond are a classical act may rage on in some quarters. The girls were banned from the official UK Classical charts because of their beats when their debut album Born was released in 2001. “It’s frustrating to us that artists with no classical training can be in the classical charts when we all have such strong classical training, but there doesn’t seem to be place for us”, says Tania.

But the powers that be also know that bond are a positive force in the classical world. They opened the 2001 and 2003 UK Classical Brit Awards. The intent in the invitation was clear — they are a superb vehicle for bringing a broader and younger audience into the classical world. From their personal experience bond know they are a clear influence on young people whose ears would not have previously been open to classical music. “Parents take their kids to our tours to show them that the violin could be fun”, says Eos.

But bond are also clear where they stand. As Haylie says, “I don’t think we ever thought of ourselves as a classical group. We all trained as classical musicians, so we know what classical music is. It was a challenge for us to create something new and different, taking inspiration from classical melodies. When we play live we use electric violins and distortion pedals and other equipment, we have lighting shows and it’s a massive production, so in that way we’re much more pop.”

The classical inspiration is still strong on Classified. That is exemplified by the inclusion of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra who accompany the girls throughout the album. “A full symphony orchestra is a lot more of a unified sound than playing with a session orchestra which may have great musicians but they only get together on the day”, says Tania. “Our album sound is very different from our live sound”, says Haylie. “Our sound is always very big, but this album was really exciting because we did it with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. bond are still at the forefront but we have this massive orchestral sound. In a way that has been going through the first and second albums but this feels more organic.”

bond have played a much larger role in the arrangements and compositions on Classified, having written over a third of the album themselves. They worked alongside Orion, led by producer and DJ Youth (who also worked on their debut album BORN), and successful club DJ and producer Ed Leal, with help on the arrangements by the hugely talented Matt Dunkley.

As bond mature and gain confidence in their identity and musicianship, it becomes clearer they have hit on a nerve and a need globally for music that is both uplifting and transporting. They have proven they had the courage and foresight to stretch the creative boundaries.

The bond bandwagon continues into 2004 with the release of Classified and
a worldwide concert tour which will take the girls to Europe, South America,
North America and Asia.

Miss INDIA Earth Surrenders Indian Crown

Harshita Saxena, the Pantaloons Femina Miss India Earth title winner, Friday surrendered her crown after modelling agency Gladrags sent her a legal notice for breach of contract.

An upset Harshita described Gladrags, with which she had signed a contract in 2006, as "unprofessional".

Sameer Soni, national director of Femina Miss India, told IANS: "Harshita has surrendered her crown and withdrawn her candidature from the contest." The beauty pageant was held April 5.

"Tanvi Vyas, the next on the list, will be crowned Miss India Earth next week," told IANS by phone from Mumbai.

Harshita, 20, had signed the two-year contract with Gladrags March 13, 2006. From then onwards, she was not supposed to participate in any other contest without the company's permission.

Soni said the contract had a "hidden clause", according to which the agreement would be applicable from the date when the event (Gladrags contest) gets staged. Harshita couldn't read in between the lines. The Gladrags pageant was held April 8, 2006.

"The Femina beauty pageant happened on April 5, 2008, and her contract ended three days after the event," explained Soni.

Harshita said: "It was extremely unprofessional on the part of Gladrags to bring this up now, as they have not given me any work in the past two years of my association."

"They did not give me a copy of the contract although they had promised to provide me the same. Since, I had read the contract two years back, I did not remember the exact dates," Harshita said.

"I tried getting in touch with the Gladrags officials to confirm the expiry date. However, there was no response from them," she said in a statement.

The angry model said that she would have appreciated if "Gladrags had approached me directly rather than me being informed via the media".

She apologised to the Miss India organisers and cautioned aspirants to be more alert while signing contracts.

"I apologise to the officials of Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2008 and voluntarily surrender the title of Pantaloons Femina Miss India Earth 2008," Harshita said.

"I would want to tell all future aspirants to be careful while signing any such contracts."

Harshita was forced to surrender the title when Maureen Wadia, president of Gladrags beauty pageants, sent her a legal notice for violating the contract and complained to the Femina Miss India organisers.

"It is quite strange that only after she won the crown and came under media glare that they decided to react," said Soni, obliquely hinting that it was a publicity gimmick.

However, Wadia said that the organisers must be more vigilant while selecting candidates.

"The organisers must be more vigilant, there should be better screening methods. I agree mistakes can happen, but I am extremely disappointed with the girl, who knew about the contract and still went ahead and participated. Youngsters must learn to respect the law and people."

In the April 5 contest, Parvathy Omanakuttan of Kerala bagged the Miss India World crown and Simran Kaur Mundi of Mumbai became Miss India Universe 2008. Harshita from Goa, was the second runner-up and was crowned Miss India Earth.

from TEXAS to USA and Now to VIETNAM

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 26-year-old entrepreneur from Texas was named Miss USA on Friday, besting 50 other beauty queens for the coveted crown.
Crystle Stewart, of Missouri City, Texas, runs a party-planning and motivational speaking company, as well as modeling professionally. She says she wants to dedicate her life to international philanthropy.

She edged out first runner-up Leah Laviano of Mississippi and Tiffany Andrade of New Jersey.

Miss USA 2007 Rachel Smith relinquished the crown — and the posh New York apartment that comes with it — in a show aired live by NBC with hosts Donny and Marie Osmond from the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. The network co-owns the parent Miss Universe Organization with Donald Trump.

Smith, a former Miss Tennessee USA, said she was headed to Hollywood.

GQBM PREDICTED 2 out 3 FEMININA MISS INDIA WINNERS!

Miss India is an annual, national beauty pageant held in India and organized by Femina & Pantaloons. Simran Kaur Mundi of Mumbai was crowned Miss India Universe 2008 at a glittering function held at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai on Saturday night. Parvathy Omanakuttam of Kerala won the Miss India World crown while Harshita Saxena of Goa was declared Miss India Earth.

CASUAL INTERVIEW

FEMININA MISS INDIA EARTH 2008
Harshita
Q. Do you prefer a love marriage or an arranged marriage?
A. I prefer a love marriage because marriages are not made in heaven. They are made on earth by confirming compatibility.

FEMININA MISS INDIA UNIVERSE 2008
Simran
Q. What is the one change you would like to see in India?
A. India can do better with empowerment of women. Though we have achieved a lot, there is a lot of scope for the same.

FEMININA MISS INDIA WORLD 2008
Parvathy
Q. What’s the nicest gift a woman can give a man?
A. The best gift a woman can ever give a man is the birth of a child with all her compassion and patience.

FINAL QUESTION

It's time to announce the final five contestants! The judges have given their verdict and the final five to battle it out for the coveted crown are Harshita, Tanvi, Parvathy, Simran and Sangeeta C.

The question posed to the finalists is:

“The rate of divorce in India is on a rise. What is the cause? Is western influence the cause or something else?”

The contestants were given 90 seconds to answer the question and the ladies came up stupendous answers!

Harshita : “Marriages are what we make of it. Divorces are prominent because we don’t have the abilities to sustain them. We have to be more strong and determined as human beings.

Simran : The mindset is changing but divorces cannot be attributed to western influences. In fact we need to come up with a system to tackle this dilemma.

Parvathy : Divorces are not a result of western influence. At the end of the day, it is we who decide whose worth us. Marriage is not when one completes the other but is when both share their completeness.

GQBM Commentary: YOU GOOOOOOOOOOO BITCH! INDIA will WIN the MISS WORLD TITLE. GQBM LOVES PARVATHY!
