TOP 25 UNIBERSAL FRIENDS after the PRELIMINARY COMPETITION

#1 INDONESIA's the domination in the Miss Unibarse voting poll is unmatched but is it enough to secure them a spot in the Top 25? Remember it's not the number of times you topped the polls, its the number of votes your delegate recieves that determines who gets the fast spot. Good luck to Indonesia!


#2 MEXICO is putting on a great fight as it holds on to the 2nd spot at the end of the voting polls. Was the suport enough to get their doll-egate in the Top 25?

Get to know more about Jesus!

Jesus Hernandez-Burgos was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico in January 6,
1986. Since he was a child was part of many extracurricular activities
in school. The field who putted him on the map is science. In 1996 at
his very short age won the Grand Prize in Puerto Rico's National
Science Fair developing domestic properties for Aloe vera plant and in
the years 1997-2003 was awarded 1st place in the Biochemistry category
of the Science Fair. He follow his studies in his hometown Juana Diaz.
As part of different organizations got the spot as President of the
American Youth Red Cross Organization in his country in 1999-2001. In
his last year as a High School student was selected as President of
his graduated class 2003. During High School was discovered by the
federal agency of the government of the United States for clinical
research called National Institutes of Health, better known as NIH.
While working for NIH was awarded with a highest recognition
"Excellence in Research" in 2003 winning over 65 foreign students from
around the world. Currently he is studying at University of Puerto
Rico with majoring in Pre-Med and is planning to follow-up his career
in a medical school at Dominican Republic.

Jesus was trained with oral talks skills at Ponce School of Arts. In
2006 he started to teach girls how to use a speech in a pageant. His
first girl competed in Miss Puerto Rico Teenager and got a semi-final
position and later another girl was in a semi-final spot at Miss
Puerto Rico Universe. Recently he was involved in a pageant and the
girl won the crown of his hometown. Talking about doll pageantry
system in July 2006 he entered to this world. Actually is the director
of Miss Doll Tourism World and his franchise of Miss Doll Curacao Org.

Hi everyone! I am a doll & action figure collector for almost 15 years. I was asked by a friend to be part of the doll pageantry. This year I took the franchise of Miss Doll Puerto Rico. Some of my girls obtained titles: Astrid Muñoz won the title of Miss Doll Water at Miss Doll Earth 2005 pageant and Lorena Fortuño as the Queen of the Caribbean at this years Miss Doll World pageant. Also I got involved in designing some of the outfits for my contestants. Fashion design has been one of my passions. It has been an incredible experience because I met such an incredible group of people. They are really creative and talented. I encourage everyone that loves doll collecting to be part of this incredible fantasy.

UNIBERSAL BEAUTY: Honey Lee MISS KOREA Universe 2007

Lee Ha-Nui (Honey Lee) born March 2, 1983 is a South Korean Graduate student and gayageum player who represented her country at the Miss Universe 2007 pageant in Mexico City. Lee is the youngest of two daughters. Her father is a high-ranking official with the National Intelligence Service. Her mother is a professor at Ewha Women's University and was in March designated a "living cultural asset" in the field of gayageum (Korean zither) music. Honey, like her mother, is also a gayageum player, along with her older sister. She has been involved in volunteer work for UNICEF, Compassion and World Vision.

For all the contestant's entrance (in the Miss Universe 2007) wearing their national costumes, Lee wore the female hanbok (the national costume of her country) reminiscent of the style of the recent 2006 KBS drama Hwang Jin-i. She was also carrying a janggu with her when she wore her costume. Her question in the Question and Answer portion was asked by James Kyson Lee, who is also Korean. Lee finished in the top 5 as 3rd runner-up. She ended Korea's nineteen-year drought in the Miss Universe Finals. The last Miss Korea to be a finalist in Miss Universe was Yunchung Chong, winning 1st runner-up in 1988.

Honey Lee is set to co-host Real Time TV Entertainment, on the national TV network SBS, a 12-year-old show focusing on show business, beginning July 18. She is now an endorsed model for Tommy Hilfiger Korea and DAKS at Vogue. She has been advertising for a series SK Telecom's campaign for CF and prints. CT&T entrusted her as public affairs person.

TOKYO RISING: SEPTEMBER 24, 2007

Czech Republic just oooozes with sex appeal and it shows in all her photographs. She reminds us of an older version of Paris Hilton and Dolly Parton! She is strong and a definite contender for the crown.

United Kingdom is not your conventional beauty queen but her recent photos are getting stronger. She is really cute and we would not be surprise if she lands a spot in the semi-finals.

Nicaragua: Beautiful, consistent and classy, the judges can not go wrong with this doll-egate. If she doesn't make it will she open a vending stand selling 'corn'?

Brazil is bubbly and beautiful. She has been consistent throughout and we can only hope for a 'bomb' gown to secure her a spot in the semi-finals.

India absolutely adorable! This Aishiwarya look-a-like probably has the 'face' of this year's pageant. She just makes you want to smile. Will she smile her way to the judges score sheets? Find out next week!

Japan is probably one of the strongest Asian delegate this year and with the reigning Miss Unibarse from the Japan, the pressure is on this ultra sleek and beautiful doll-egate.

Mauritius is absolutely STUNNING! It would be in injustice if she does not make it in!

Macau is considered a 'dark horse'. Rarely does she get mentioned but she has a certain magic in her photos. With her regal bearing and 'Dreamgirl-esque' feel Macau could be celebrating their first ever semi-final spot.

Panama joined in 2005 but failed to make the cut. This year's doll-egate is simply irresistible! Charming and always ready for her close up. Panama sent us a strong contender for the crown! Did the judges feel the same way?

El Salvador: There is something special about this doll-egate and we would not be surprise if El Salvador takes home a semi-final spot this year!

Philippines stepped up the GLAM with her 'chignon' during the swimsuit competition. She looks absolutely regal and we hope the judges rewarded her a spot in the semi-finals!

Aruba: With her mesmerizing eyes how can you miss this stunner from the one happy island! She is consistent in every competition a definitely one to watch out for!

Angola looks sweet in her pictures. She has the X factor but but it's luke warm...can she spice up the heat during the evening gowns?

Ukraine started off slow during the costume and cover shot but this European beauty is starting to heat up the competition with her 'easy, breezy cover girl look!'

Germany could very well have their first TOP 25 spot! She is classy, sexy and absolutely beautiful!

The past 2 days have been super nerve wrecking for the Miss Unibarse Organization due to the swisuit competition results, there was a 5 way tie for the first place spot! "We've never had a 5-wat tie before. I've had 3-ways, I mean, we have had 3-way and 2-way ties but not 5 dolls in one spot!" It was weird to see that and it's mind boggling considering that we have 20 judges." reported a Miss Unibarse representative. FRUIT SALAD'S Take on the NATIONAL COSTUMES...HELLA FUNNY ARTICLE!

Last week Pauly and I toyed around with our first function at the internet doll pageant Miss Unibarse: judging the Preliminary National Costume Competition. Some took our plastic breaths away, others left our fabricated heads spinning.

Basically, while the contestants paraded before us we were asked to give a score from 1 through 10 (10 being best).

As for the ones that stood out, we were dazzled with the sunflower-adorned Miss Chile, Miss Nicaragua’s native crafted headset showed excellent craftsmanship and Pauly’s favorite (read: the one he’d f*ck if he were an action figure) Miss Aruba, who can wear the L.A. Times and still look like a goddess.

Ooooooon the other prosthetic hand, I noticed a bizarre plant theme going on with some of the “doll-egates” that I just couldn’t fit into the Malibu dream home in my mind.

For example, Miss Mauritius looked like she was mugged by Greenpeace, Miss Palau had enough roughage on her to cleanse her non-existent colon (twice!) and Miss Paraguay seemed like she crashed her dream car into a fruit stand on the way to the pageant.

In the meantime, my bias for Miss Philippines came into play (since I myself was manufactured and assembled at that archipelago). When I first saw her two thoughts came to mind: “Wow….Gorgeous!” and “I wonder if she gets HBO?”

At the end of our fictitious day we submitted our votes and the results were tallied. We don’t know who won yet and we didn’t stick around to find out. That Filipino chick needed a ride home and there was no way she was getting that thing into our car.

"Welcome back! Oh my goodness, everyone, I think I’ve turned Lebanese! What a fabulous cover shoot segment that wa..s..what (whispering to her ear piece) ??!?"
(Assistant cues Ace on correct location on earpiece) "Pssst, Ace, we are in Japan...

"oh...take 2! Welcome back! Oh my goodness, everyone, I think I’ve turned Japanese! OHIOOOOOO everyone! What a fabulous cover shoot segment that was!" Even though there were several wardrobe malfunction (what can you do with “live” telecast, sort of) it was still a fantastic segment.

So, here is my top ten faves for the cover shoot in no particular order:


Chile – is soooooooo spicy! Muy deliciosa! Esta una diosa de sabor!

Venezuela – she can pass as USA’s sister but her hazel eyes makes you wonder whats behind it… its not about her brain… I mean it makes you want to know her more.

Germany – she looks in the distance and you want to look too.

Palau – you would not think she can kick your padunkadunk to the curb, huh? Just look at that coy smile. But she really can kick your padunkadunk if you look at her wrong.

India – too darn cute! That playful smile is infectious… in a good way. Not like a cold sore or anything like that.

USA – classic good looks in a modern mini-kimono, what can go wrong!

Aruba – that creamy caramel skin makes her look edible! But not really because she’s plastic.

Mauritius – with those rare violet eyes and Brooke Shields type eyebrows, she
commands your attention… or else, she’ll whack you with a beer bottle.

Nicaragua – she gave you MAIZE in the costume competition, now she’s serving you SUSHI Ninja style!


Dominican Republic – HOT CHOCOLATE! (Wow, what’s with all the food reference. I think I’m hungry.)

And there you have it. My Top 10 favorites. Who will fast track to the next round?

our distinguished judge's participation on panel?

She covered the costume competition last weekend and currently on a new location for another fun shoot with the doll-egates! Ace has this to say about this year's costume competition:

Hi Everyone, this is Ace Yang again reporting on Miss Unibarse 2007!

Tonight we just finished the parade of nations and I realized something happens when we put on a costume; our personalities change. With these girls though, their personalities dont really change because... well... you know... but regardless here are my votes for best and worst.

The girls that made me go “OOOH” in a good way, are... Canada, Czech Republic, Kazahkstan and Sri Lanka.

My Special Honorary Mention for Most Improved... Palau and Mauritius. I'm glad they recovered and they learned that when in doubt, wear foliage.

My Major Disappointments were...

France... petals? I didn't get it.
Puerto Rico... smile a little, please! And don't wear flower tortillas next time. Get it? Flower... flour...
U.S.... Elvis... zzzzzzzzzz...
Venezuela... uhm... seen that before.

And these dolligates made me go “WOW!”

Aruba, damn sexy!

1. Greece: In an amazing feat, Greece bumps off Indonesia's domination in the top spot. If you recall, Greece was all the way in the 80th spot days prior to the launch, this time they are at number 1! Great job Greece!


2. Japan: The host country moves up to the #2 spot from # 11 days before the official launch. Can Japan secure a semi-spot for their doll-egate?


3. Chile: Chileans hold on to the #3 spot for the second week! Chile wore a beautiful national costume during the costume presentation and the Chileans seem to like it!

Puerto Rico Collapses during the Costume Competition

Gabriella Coll, this year's representative from the beautiful island nation of Puerto Rico collapses last week during the national costume competition due to heat and exhaustion. It was during her costume photoshoot that the accident happened.

"Esta semana ha sido llenada de numerosos acontecimientos. Emociona muy y maravilloso formar parte de todo este pero agota muy al mismo tiempo. Estoy apoyo agradecido de rthe de fo del otro muñeca-egates inclusive los organizadores."


(English Translation: This week have been filled with numerous events. It's very exciting and wonderful to be part of all of this but it's very exhausting at the same time. I am thankful for the support of the other doll-egates including the organizers.)
Miss Unibarse Organizers immediately contacted Juan Carlos Medina, President of Miss Doll Puerto Rico to inform them of the news. Ironically, a similar incident happened to the Miss Venezuela pageant last week where a candidate also collapsed.

UNIBERSAL FRIENDS: SEPTEMBER 5, 2007

Countdown to Miss Unibarse! Five days before the official launch of the world's premiere doll pageant a lot of movers and shakers in the top 15 all heading towrds the top spot while 1 nation loses it's samurai grip. Meet this week's top "Unibersal Friends"

1. Indonesia: Holds Strong taking the lead position for the 2nd week in a row! Can Indonesia do a back to back top 5 finish with their 'People's Votes'?

2.Brazil: Moves up a spot to #2! Brazil has a lot to cheer about their delegate wore a beautiful costume during last weeks costume competition.

3.Mexico: After the release of their doll-egates photo, Mexico moves two spots up! Mexico has never entered the semi-finals and their doll this year could just be Mexico's first!

4. Hong Kong: The tiny nation of Hong Kong blasts through the competition with a very strong entry at #4. This is Hong Kongs first year to participate and the first time to enter the top 5 with Unibersal Friends.


5. Russia: From #15 to #5, Russia's iron grip to reach the top proves to be stronger than ever. Russia is the biggest mover this week and with their sexy doll-egate, the Russians are definitely heading to the top!


6. Australia: The Aussies moved up 2 two spots from #8 to #6 from last week. Australia now enters top top 10 of 2 of our Miss Unbarse polls: 'Unibersal Friends' and 'Tokyo Rising'. Congratulations Aussies!

7. India: No one saw this coming! From out of nowhere, India secures the #7 spot after weeks of absence from the line up. Kudos to India and namaste!

8. Switzerland: A lot of movers and shakers this week and Switzerland, although 'neutral' in stand, moves up one spot upon release of their doll-egate.

9. Philippines: After weeks of waiting, Philippines remains in the top ten. With the recent crowning of their doll by non other than Miss Philippines Universe herself, the pageant crazed Filipinos secured the 9th spot this week!

Miss Unibarse Honors Miss Universe 2005

Miss Universe 2005, the 54th Miss Universe pageant, was held in Bangkok, Thailand on May 31, 2005. At the conclusion of the final telecast, Miss Universe Canada, Natalie Glebova was crowned Miss Universe 2005 by outgoing titleholder Jennifer Hawkins of Australia. She was the second Canadian to win the title, following Karen Dianne Baldwin who was Miss Universe 1982. The top fifteen was dominated by contestants from the Americas and Caribbean, whilst the top five consisted entirely of women from these regions.

Results:

The Miss Universe was won by Natalie Glebova of Canada.

The runners-up were:

1st runner-up - Cynthia Olavarria (Puerto Rico)
2nd runner-up - Renata Sone (Dominican Republic)
3rd runner-up - Laura Elizondo (Mexico)

Aruba Wins the Hearts of ALL the Doll-egates by her 'Sharing is Caring' Nature

This has been a stressful three days of competition and to add more stress the production team of Miss Unibarse accidently left the shoes of many of the girls in a rush to get to the location on time. Luckily, a beautiful angel from the one happy island of Aruba came to the rescue of the dolls. Miss Unibarse Aruba loaned her only pair of gold stilleto shoes to every doll that needed it for their costume. "These are my lucky pair of shoes, I wear them to every pageant I participate in, it goes with any outfit I have and now apparently any costume in the Unibarse...they were on sale!"

Pageant Tidbits: National Costume

After 3 exhausting days of costume fittings and photo shoots the delegates leave Tokyo Dome for a much needed break from the competition. They are scheduled to stay in the hotel for a couple of days and return to their usual rehearsal schedule in preparation for next week's big events: the swimsuit and evening gown competitions.

The girls finished late Sunday night with the national costume category of the competition. The doll-egates official headshots have been re-scheduled for Wednesday. After the costume category, the dolls were escorted immediately back to their hotel, to get a much needed rest and relaxation. Each carrying their own beautiful costumes, the dolls continued to wave and smile at their adoring fans!

Controversy Over Hong Kong's Revealing National Costume

International press covering the event calls 'foul and inappropriate!' over Hong Kong's super sexy and revealing national costume. Hong Kong is one of the so called 'fashionista'dolls in the group. Dressed with the latest in Hong Kong's high end fashions it's hard to ignore this Asian goddess. Noticeable enough that members of the press covering the event labeled her national
costume 'inappropriate'. Miss Unibarse Organization released this statement regarding the issue. "Miss Unibarse Organization stands behind Miss Hong Kong's decision to wear her national costume. We feel that it is a great costume that represents her sophisticated homeland. Miss Hong Kong has not done nor worn anything we feel is offensive and she has every right to wear her national costume during the competition."

Binibining Pilipinas Universe 2006 Crowns Miss Unibarse Philippines 2007

What are the chances that an actual Miss Philippines winner will crown the official representative of the Philippines to Miss Unibarse? Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine such a scenario happening but it did! Binibining Pilipinas Universe 2006 Lia Andrea Ramos, the Philippine's official representative to Miss Universe 2006 in Los Angeles, graciously crowned this year's Miss Unibarse Philippines representative Margarita Diaz. Lian and her sister Bea Ramos, also a beauty queen (Miss US-Philippines 2006), were both present during the election of Miss Unibarse Philippines. Organizers of Miss Unibarse Philippines expressed their gratitude towards the two beautiful sisters. It is an honor to have two of the country's most beautiful ladies grace our event, this is truly a magical moment in Miss Unibarse Philippines history." Miss Unibarse Philippines arrived in Tokyo last week with the goal of winning Miss Unibarse 2007.

A Feast of Color, Fantasy and Vivid Imagination at the Costume Competition

Reporting from the Tokyo Dome, Tak Tak Ajinomoto here bringing you the latest doll-egate photos during the National Costume competition. Here'a sneak peek at this year's costume ball where color, fantasy and vivid imagination is rampant at every costume that came out on stage. "Looks like the directors went all out with this year's costumes!" commented one spectator, "...from the looks of it, there seems to be a clearance sale with feathers, jewels and artificial floras!"

This year's costumes are so diverse you can see butterflies, empresses, floral gardens and even Elvis trying to win that coveted and very important 'Best National Costume' Award and Fast Track spot in the semi-finals.
